Why do we ask for your credit report?

We ask you to obtain your credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, the only federally directed source for free consumer credit reports. This allows you to provide us with accurate loan and balance information. We use the information only to verify that the loans and balances listed on your application match your credit report, ensuring that your application is processed correctly.

Why aren’t we able to access your credit report directly?

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) only allows businesses to access consumer credit reports for specific “permissible purposes,” such as lending, insurance underwriting, or employment decisions. Our company does not have a permissible purpose under the FCRA to directly request your credit report from a credit bureau.

However, you are legally allowed to obtain your own credit report and voluntarily provide it to us, which is fully permitted under federal law.
